Apprentice Software Developer

We’re currently looking to bring on a new apprentice for the 2017-2018 academic year. Hertzian is looking for confident self-driven individuals, who are willing to learn. You will be expected to do your own research on tasks, with the help of your mentors when appropriate. You will require a good knowledge and understanding of programming. We expect a high level of commitment to work and professionalism. Hertzian is made up of a team of less than 10 members of staff. As such you will be integrated closely with the team. You will be invited to attend Hertzian events and extracurricular activities hosted.

As a Software Developer you would be required to build and test simple, high-quality code across front end, logic and database layers. You will typically be working as part of a larger team, in which you will have responsibility for some of the straightforward elements of the overall project. You will need to be able to interpret design documentation and specifications. The customer requirements will typically be defined and agreed by more experienced or specialist members of the team, such as a business director or technical architect.

This apprenticeship programme could be for someone who wants a level 3 or 4 qualifications.  You will need to demonstrate expertise in the technical side of their role. You will develop strong problem-solving skills and obtain a good grasp of the theoretical and practical aspects of software development. It is essential that you are able to work independently but also operate as an effective team member, have good inter-personal skills and identify ways in which they can work more efficiently.

For more details on your eligibility for this apprenticeship contact your local training organisation or college.
