UK Modern Slavery Statement

TL;DR

We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. Although legally exempt due to size, we voluntarily audit our supply chains (software, IT, office supplies) and internally verify that no exploitation occurs within our business or among our direct partners.

Hertzian Ltd is committed to combatting slavery and human trafficking in its business and supply chains, and we make this statement to assist with compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015. This statement relates to the financial year ending 31st March 2025.

As our business has a turnover of less than £36 million, we do not have a legal obligation to produce a modern slavery statement. However:

  • We agree that exploitation within all supply chains ending in the UK is a blight on our society.
  • We understand that customers with obligations under the Act cannot comply without our cooperation.

To that end, we confirm that we have examined our own business and, to the extent that it is reasonably practicable, businesses within our supply chain. We confirm that within our own business, no relevant offence relating to slavery or human trafficking has been committed.

Our supply chain consists of professional services, software licenses, IT hardware, and standard office supplies. We do not believe that our supply chain is in one of the sectors or geographical regions that entail a greater risk of exploitation.

The person in our business responsible for assessing matters relating to slavery and human trafficking is: The Board of Directors.

Anti-Bribery Policy

TL;DR

We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards bribery and corruption under the UK Bribery Act 2010. Employees and partners may never offer or accept bribes. Reasonable business hospitality is permitted but must be proportionate, documented, and never intended to improperly influence a decision.

Prohibited Conduct

Under no circumstances are you permitted to offer, promise, give, request, agree to receive, or accept a bribe. A bribe includes any financial or other advantage intended to improperly influence a person in a position of trust or to induce them to perform a relevant function or activity improperly. This applies whether the advantage is offered to or by a public official or a private individual.

Reporting & Breaches

We encourage all employees and stakeholders to be vigilant and to report any concerns of suspected bribery or corruption immediately. All reports will be handled confidentially and without fear of reprisal. Concerns can be raised with your line manager or directly to Legal. Any breach is a serious matter and may result in dismissal and personal criminal prosecution.

Environmental Sustainability

TL;DR

As a digital insights company, our primary footprint involves office energy and e-waste. We are committed to digital-first documentation, energy-efficient appliances, remote working allowances to reduce commutes, and utilizing certified green suppliers for hardware disposal.

Hertzian Ltd recognises that it has a responsibility to the environment beyond legal and regulatory requirements. We continually improve our environmental performance as an integral part of our business strategy.

Waste & E-Waste Management
We will reduce the amount of waste produced and recycle where possible. We will use digital documents and avoid printing to minimize paper waste. We will dispose of all electronic waste (e-waste) through certified and environmentally responsible channels.
Energy & Transportation
Lights and electrical equipment will be switched off when not in use. We will use energy-efficient appliances and minimize reliance on air conditioning. We promote remote working to reduce employee commute-related emissions, and encourage video/phone conferences over physical travel.
Procurement & Partners
We will prioritize purchasing office supplies from certified sustainable sources. We will work with suppliers, contractors, and sub-contractors to improve their environmental performance, reviewing their environmental policies before engaging their services.

Equality & Diversity

TL;DR

We believe data is objective, and our hiring/culture must be too. We strictly prohibit discrimination, harassment, or victimisation based on any protected characteristic (age, race, gender, sexuality, disability, etc.). Hiring and promotions are based entirely on objective merit and ability.

At Hertzian, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where every individual is valued and treated with dignity and respect. We aim to ensure that our policies, practices, and procedures are fair, transparent, and accessible to all, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, religion, belief, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Definitions of Discrimination

Direct discrimination

Treating someone less favourably because of a Protected Characteristic.

Indirect discrimination

A provision, criterion or practice that applies to everyone but adversely affects people with a particular Protected Characteristic more than others, and is not justified.

Harassment

Unwanted conduct related to a Protected Characteristic, which has the purpose or effect of violating someone’s dignity.

Victimisation

Retaliation against someone who has complained or has supported someone else’s complaint about discrimination.

Recruitment and Selection

Recruitment, promotion, and other selection exercises will be conducted based on merit, against objective criteria that avoid discrimination. Advertisements should avoid stereotyping or using wording that may discourage particular groups from applying. Job applicants should not be asked questions which might suggest an intention to discriminate on grounds of a Protected Characteristic.
