Celebrating Cornwall’s Apprentices at the 10th Annual Apprenticeship Awards

February 12, 2026

Truro & Penwith College recently hosted their 10th annual Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards, and we at Hertzian were delighted to be invited to the event — and honoured to serve as the headline sponsor of the Cornwall’s Apprentice of the Year Award.

We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to represent and celebrate Cornwall’s outstanding apprentices. We’d also like to extend our sincere thanks to Truro & Penwith College for organising such a fantastic evening, as well as to our fellow sponsors who helped make the event possible.

Several members of our team attended the awards, each coming away with their own highlights from the evening:

Frontend Developer, Cameron Crocker, said that “it was nice to see and hear about how apprentices have helped their respective businesses”, adding that “I was surprised to see how good the production value of the event was”. He ended by mentioning that “the food was really, really good!”, going to show that the event didn’t waste even a single penny to ensure everyone had a good time!

Software Developer, Dylan Foster-Slack, mentioned that “The apprenticeship awards evening was great”, adding that “It had an awesome atmosphere, and it was great seeing everyone come together to celebrate the achievements of apprentices who play a huge role in Cornwall's prosperity”. He ended by saying “It was a wonderful night and really nice to meet people who play a key role in the apprenticeship opportunities in Cornwall”

Communications Manager, Camilla Kjaernet, lead with “I had a fantastic time attending the Apprenticeship Awards”, adding that “it was an invaluable opportunity to network and connect with fellow professionals across Cornwall”. She also mentioned that “it was a wonderful chance for our team to step away from the office, dress up, and celebrate our collective hard work”. She ended off by saving “I felt inspired by the talent in our region and grateful for a memorable night with the team!”

For our Lead Software Developer, Christian Dove, he mentioned that it was “a good event”. He made special mention of the fact that he used to be an apprentice himself, saying “it was nice to see the new round of apprentices get the recognition they deserve”.

Data Scientist, David Dixon,  mentioned that the “event location was delightful” and “the Eden Project put on a great welcome”. He also said that “it was a pleasure to meet new people of import from across Cornwall, and spend time with the team”. He ended by mentioning that “it was great to see such a diverse group of apprentices with a mix of age, gender and ability”.

Our CEO, Christopher Weavill, led with “It was great to see so much inspiring talent”, “it shows without question that Cornwall is creating and nurturing new skills”. He added that “It was a privilege to be a headline sponsor again, and bring so many of Hertzian’s old and new apprentices to experience the awards. “, ending with “Congrats to Holly Doran for winning the Apprenticeship of the Year award.”

All in all, the event was a fantastic success. We’d like to congratulate all the apprentices nominated for awards and wish you every success in whatever comes next. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event and will continue doing our part to support Cornwall’s rising talent.
